Who I am

In private practice since 1995, I work with adults from various backgrounds who come with a variety of concerns and disorders. I am very active and involved during our sessions, gathering as much information as necessary to arrive at a full and detailed picture. Identifying the cause of a problem, and what it means to you, is the first step in developing a treatment plan. My role as your therapist is to act as a mirror so you can get to know yourself well and to make good choices that can improve your life. I work efficiently, with an eye to helping you feel better soon. The actual pace of treatment is determined by you and your needs, reflected in your emotions and thoughts.

A significant part of how I work is to present a few key principles in the early sessions. I teach about how our bodies respond physically and emotionally to external and internal triggers. We might discuss medication and how it could be useful in certain circumstances, and any potential difficulties with it. I offer a few basic rules about social interaction. Did you know that a request does not create an obligation?

Having someone who wants to know you, will listen to you, and who cares what happens to you is only one of the ways to take good care of yourself. I will help you learn to listen to your own thoughts and emotions, consider all that you know, and carefully assess your options.
